Provincetown Public Library: Marc Jacobs Reading Room
In the great days of American collecting, U.S. museums generally tried to avoid exhibiting ‘lascivious’ art. But (generally) without realizing it, several of them–particularly the Museum of Fine Arts and the Metropolitan–ended up with impressive collections of art on LGBT themes. In this lecture, Professor Andrew Lear will show us a number of LGBT themed pieces from museums in Boston and New York: art hanging in plain sight in our major museums that trace a surprising history of same-sex love.” This event is funded by the Friends and Supporters of the Provincetown Library.
